Agenda

Spark Introduction

The main focus will be to understand Spark main characteristics : RDD, Transformations, Actions and to see how easy we can deploy Spark and learn it at home.

Practical examples

Because we learn better and faster by coding, we have two hours to do plenty of Spark examples based on what we learned from “Spark Introduction”.
After we are familiar with RDD, Transformations and Actions we will work on some examples with Spark SQL to see how easy distributed computing can be.

All the examples are based on MovieLens dataset.

Prerequisites

You need to have your own laptop and basic knowledge about chosen programming language(java,python,scala).

All the details for Spark installation and work environment will be provided with at least one week before the workshop.
